DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson men's tennis team (8-1) rebounded from its first loss of the season in fine fashion Saturday with a 7-0 shutout of visiting Southern Miss (1-9) at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.  Three Hatters were victorious in both singles and doubles, including senior Alex Hackett (Surrey, England), junior Cesare Gallo (Portogruaro, Italy) and sophomore Didrik Berg (Oslo, Norway).

Hackett and senior Chris Swanteson (Vaxjo, Sweden) started the proceedings with an 8-2 doubles win on Court 3; Berg and Gallo then delivered the doubles point to Stetson with a tough 9-8 win on Court 2 over Jovan Zelijkovis and Paulo Alvarado.  Stetson's nationally 40th-ranked duo of juniors Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus) and Njal Stene (Oslo, Norway) was upset 9-7 on Court 1 by Jan Burmeister and Julien Roussel.

Stetson rolled through the singles portion unblemished as only Gallo even needed to go to a third set to defeat his Golden Eagle foe.  Levanovich took down Roussel 6-0, 6-2 on Court 1; Berg defeated Zelijkovis 6-3, 6-0 on Court 3 and freshman Hans Adrian Riseng (Oslo, Norway) won 6-1, 6-0 over Stewart Gammill on Court 6 for the most dominating victories.

The Hatters face Conference USA opposition again on Thursday when they visit local rival UCF.  The match begins at 2 p.m. in Orlando.
