DeLand, Fla. - Senior Alex Hackett (Surrey, England) outlasted David Clavera of nationally 70th-ranked Campbell 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 in a third set thriller to give the Stetson men's tennis team (10-3, 2-1 Atlantic Sun) a 4-3 win over the visiting Camels (7-2, 1-1 A-Sun) Saturday at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.  Hackett was also a doubles winner with his partner, junior Njal Stene (Oslo, Norway); Stene won a singles match as well.

Stetson claimed the doubles point after an 8-4 win from Hackett and Stene on Court 3 and a 9-7 victory by junior Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus) and senior Chris Swanteson (Vaxjo, Sweden) on Court 2.  The two teams then split six singles matches, which was enough to push the Hatters to a 4-3 win.  Stene beat Fernando Guillen 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 on Court 3 with Hackett getting a three-set win on Court 5.  Junior Cesare Gallo (Portogruaro, Italy) recorded Stetson's second point of the match with a convincing 6-1, 6-2 victory on Court 2 against Campbell's Larbi Lamzouri.

The Hatters host Eastern Kentucky in non-conference action at 5 p.m. Monday, March 7; a Stetson-EKU women's match will precede it at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center starting at 11 a.m.
