DeLand, Fla. - Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote is proud to announce the addition of two talented and accomplished international players to his men's tennis squad for 2012-13. Both Laurynas Antropikas (Palanga, Lithuania) and Simon Julin (Stockholm, Sweden) will be freshmen for the Hatters next season.

The 6'3" Antropikas is graduating from Palangos Senoji Gymnasium this year and is the third-ranked player in his native Lithuania. He is a two-time outdoor U-18 national champion with a high International Tennis Federation ranking of #242 in the world among junior players. Antropikas's international tournament resume includes doubles finalist showings in the Belkanton Open, Estonian Junior Open and Riga (Latvia) Open. He is the son of Raimondas Antropikas and Zivile Antropikiene.

Julin, who stands 5'10", attends Mörby Gymnasium, where he is the student body president, and has been ranked as high as 16th nationally among junior players in Sweden. Over the last two years, Julin has compiled a 16-5 singles and 11-3 doubles record in STF (Swedish Tennis Federation) events, defeating three of the nation's top 10 18-and-under players in the process. He is the son of Hans and Eva Julin.

"Both Laurynas and Simon are very experienced players; we will look for them to contribute significantly to the success of our team for years to come," Pilote said. "Laurynas reminds me a lot of Maksim Levanovich, not just because of his size and power but also in his style of play. Simon has many of the same playing attributes as (Stetson Class of 2000 alumnus) Marcus Andresen: he is very powerful from both sides and has the ability to produce winners off any shot."

Antropikas and Julin will join a Hatters squad that went 17-5 overall and 7-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference this season, reaching the A-Sun tournament semifinals and being ranked as high as 59th nationally. Stetson will return a pair of 2012 A-Sun All-Freshman Team performers in Nathan Debut (Toulon, France) and Chester Espie (Auckland, New Zealand) next year.
