Stetson junior Alexandria Buelow is no stranger to the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week award. The Palm City native has been a regular recipient of the award, winning it for the sixth time on Wednesday.

Buelow earned her third A-Sun honor this year for her second place finish at the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational, which concluded last Sunday in Orange City, Fla. Buelow closed the event with a school record tying round of 68, which helped her move to within one shot of the tournament individual title.

Stetson coach Floyd Kerr said getting off to a fast start was the key for Buelow in her record-tying round.

“Alex got off to a good start with birdies on the first two holes before adding two more birdies to make the turn in 33,” Kerr said. “She was steady on the back through the first seven holes, but struggled on the last two holes. She made great, par-saving, putts on both holes.”

Buelow’s score of 68 tied for the best single individual round ever for the Stetson women’s golf program. Danielle Jackson had a 68 on October 30, 2006, at the DeBary Intercollegiate at the DeBary Golf Club.

The Stetson women will be back in action this weekend when they play in the MSU Ocala Spring Invitational at the Juliette Falls Golf Course in Dunnellon, Fla. That event will include single, 18-hole rounds beginning on Monday, March 18 and concluding on Wednesday, March 20.

Other teams in the field for the event include the host team from Morehead State, Appalachian State, Florida Atlantic, Jacksonville State, McNeese State, Murray State, Ohio and Western Kentucky.

The Hatters will be grouped with players from Ohio and WKU and will open play on Monday starting with tee times at 10:06 a.m.
