DeLand, Fla. - Stetson Head Women's Golf Coach Floyd Kerr is proud to announce the addition of Claudia Redinger (Durban, South Africa) to the 2010-11 roster. Redinger, one of the top junior golfers in Kwazulu-Natal Province and South Africa itself, will have freshman eligibility when she arrives at Stetson in January.
Redinger is the third international player that Kerr has recruited to the Hatters, joining senior Alex Banham (Peterborough, England) and Christine Fraser '09 (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) in that category. A graduate of St. Mary's Diocesan School for Girls, Redinger is an accomplished junior golfer who has qualified for the Kwazulu-Natal squad in the South African Inter-Provincial Championships. Her personal best round is a two under par score in difficult conditions at Royal Durban Golf Club, considered one of the toughest courses in South Africa.
The two-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference champion Hatters are adding Redinger to a young but talented team that features sophomore and reigning A-Sun Player of the Year Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.), junior Lauren Cate (St. Augustine, Fla.) and freshmen standouts Mallory Viera (Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.) and Sammi Smith (Louisville, Ky.). Stetson recently completed its fall season with a fourth consecutive Holiday Inn Express Hatter Fall Classic championship and now appears fully stocked to make a run at its third straight A-Sun title this April at its home course, Victoria Hills GC in DeLand, Fla.
