Orange Park, Fla. - Sophomore Alexandria Buelow (Palm City, Fla.) shot one over par 73 in the second round of the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational on Saturday, moving up into a tie for sixth on the individual leaderboard at three over par after 36 holes. The Stetson women's golf team sits in eighth place at 32 over par with one round to go.
Junior Lauren Cate (St. Augustine, Fla.) tied Buelow as low Hatter on the day with a 73; Cate rebounded strongly from an 80 in the first round and is now tied for 34th place. Freshman Mallory Viera (Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.) is tied for 28th at seven over par overall; she had an 80 on Saturday. Senior Alex Banham (Peterborough, England) and freshman Jenna Hoecker (Rochester, N.Y.) rounded out the team contingent with a 79 and an 81, respectively. Freshmen Ryan Ashburn (Largo, Fla.) and Claudia Redinger (Durban, South Africa), competing as individuals this weekend, carded respective scores of 79 and 95.
Although Stetson slipped from second place to eighth place in the team standings, the Hatters (+32) are just five strokes out of third with 18 holes left. #34 Chattanooga leads the tournament at five over par, 13 strokes ahead of East Carolina and 22 shots up on third place Campbell. USF, Illinois and Miami (Fla.) are tied for fourth at 28 over par with Maryland (+30) two strokes ahead of Stetson.
