MACON, Ga. - The Atlantic Sun Conference announced that ASun.TV will carry all fall championship events free of charge. The fall championships for the Atlantic Sun Conference begin Saturday with the opening round matches in women's soccer.
The A-Sun began airing championship events for free during the quarterfinal round of last season's General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Basketball Championships. Kennesaw State's upset of top-seeded Lipscomb drew nearly 10,000 viewers. The conference also provided full coverage of the Men's and Women's Tennis, Softball and Baseball Championships at no charge.
"We are very pleased to announce that A-Sun fans will be able to access A-Sun Fall Championship broadcasts on ASun.TV at no charge this season," Atlantic Sun Commissioner Ted Gumbart said. "We had great success with this program in basketball, tennis, softball and baseball last spring, and we are very excited about broadening the audience for our soccer and volleyball championship play this fall."
Two Women's Soccer Championship matches kick off the fall season. Defending champion Kennesaw State hosts ETSU from the brand new KSU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. At that same time, UNF - making its first appearance in the A-Sun Women's Soccer Championship - faces Stetson, making its eighth consecutive appearance in the field. Both games will be available on the Atlantic Sun's channel of ASun.TV.
During the regular season ETSU and Kennesaw State played to 1-1 draw on October 17 in a game also played at Kennesaw State. UNF opened conference play with a home 1-0 win against Stetson on September 17.
The semifinals and title game will take place at Jacksonville's Ashley Sports Complex beginning on Thursday, November 4 and concluding two days later. Men's Soccer Championship play begins that weekend at the venues of the third and fourth seeds with the semifinals and finals set for November 11 and 13. For the second straight year, the FGCU will host the A-Sun Volleyball Championship from November 18th through the 20th.
