DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson baseball team continued its winning ways Tuesday with a come-from-behind 7-6 win over Bethune-Cookman (10-13) at Melching Field. The Hatters, ranked #28 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball, are now 17-4 overall on the season.

Stetson is now 65-15 all-time against its Volusia County rival which includes a 2-1 mark this season with one game to play on April 26.

"It wasn't a pretty win but it was still a good win to come from behind and beat a team as good as Bethune", said Stetson head coach Pete Dunn. "This team has been battling all year. We won a game or two this weekend in similar fashion."

Robert Crews (Port Charlotte, Fla.) was on fire going 5-for-5 with a home run, a double and three singles. He also had three RBI and scored three times including the game-tying run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Ryan Lashley (Lake Worth, Fla.) continued his current hot streak with a 2-for-4 performance that featured the game-winning RBI, his third in as many games.

The Hatters went into the final inning down 6-5 to the Wildcats. Crews started the rally with a one-out single to centerfield. The next batter went down looking and the Hatters were down to their last out. Nick Rickles (Loxahatchee, Fla.) stepped up to the plate, and once again stepped up for the team with a high fly to right field that dropped into play just inside the foul line and right in between three converging Wildcats. By the time the play ended Rickles was on third base with a triple and the game was tied 6-6.

Then it was Lashley time. Bethune-Cookman decided to intentionally walk Mark Jones (Bunnell, Fla.) to get to Ryan Lashley. Lashley jumped on the first pitch, tagged a high-hopping single to third base, and Stetson had another walk-off win.

Robbie Powell (Punta Gorda, Fla.) pitched the final inning, struck out two batters, and picked up the victory to go to 3-0 on the season. Cookman's Chris Anselmo (Deltona, Fla.) faced three batters in the 9th and took the loss falling to 1-2 on the season.

The Hatters hit the road Wednesday to take on Florida State in Tallahassee at 6:00 p.m. Stetson fans can see the game on Fox Sports Florida (FSN) or can hear it on Hatter Vision at with Bill Topping calling the action. Tickets are available at the gate or can be purchased online at or by calling 738-HATS.
