Fort Myers, Fla. - Stetson (37-10, 20-4 A-Sun) completed a three-game series sweep of Florida Gulf Coast (22-26, 11-13 A-Sun) with a 13-2 win Sunday in Fort Myers. It is the fourth A-Sun series sweep of the season for the first place Hatters. Stetson has secured a berth in the upcoming Atlantic Sun Conference tournament and has a magic number of three for its first regular season league title since 2007.

"A great weekend! This team keeps showing up ready to play. The bullpen did another great job for us today", said Stetson head coach Pete Dunn. "I am real proud of the guys. This is a good team who beat us up pretty good over the past few years. Our guys realized that and came to play."

Stetson totaled 13 hits in the game with every starter but one picking up at least one. Ben Carhart (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) and Mark Jones (Bunnell, Fla.) led the attack for the Hatters. Carhart was 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored while Jones finished 2-for-5 with a double, three RBI and one run across.

Reliever Tucker Donahue (Coral Springs, Fla.) tossed 3.1 scoreless innings in relief and struck out three batters to earn the win. He raised his record to 2-1 on the season. FGCU starter Jason Forjet (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) took the loss and fell to 1-5 after allowing eight runs on eight hits over 1.2 innings of work.

After the Eagles struck first with a run in the bottom of the first inning Stetson responded with an eight-run explosion and put the game away in the top of the 2nd. The Hatters had eight hits in the inning highlighted by a pair of singles and an RBI by Nick Rickles (Loxahatchee, Fla.). The eight runs was the most scored in an inning by Stetson this season. The Hatters have scored seven runs in a inning in three other games.

The Hatters added three runs in the 6th and two more in the 7th to secure the victory

"We have a big week in front of us with Florida State and FIU coming in and then traveling up to Nashville to play Lipscomb. We'll have to get back to work after a day off tomorrow", said Dunn.

The Hatters will return to DeLand for a pair of big midweek games at Melching Field. They will take on Florida State on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. and Florida International Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. Stetson fans can see the games on Hatter Vision at with Bill Topping calling the action.
