Stetson's Kurt Schluter and Cameron Griffin both picked up
wins on the mound in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League on Monday night.
Schluter led the Chatham Anglers to a 4-2 win over the
Orleans Firebirds, striking out eight batters in a six inning start. The right-hander allowed just two runs on
five hits and walked none as the Anglers snapped a five-game skid.
The Anglers are now 16-16 on the year, and are four games
back of first place in the Eastern Division with 12 contests remaining in the
regular season. In six appearances,
including five starts, Schluter is 2-1 with a 3.95 ERA this summer. He has 22 strikeouts to only five walks on
the season.
Griffin
picked up a win in 1.1 innings of work on the mound as the Cotuit Kettleers
defeated the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox by a score of 8-4. The lefty allowed two runs on just two hits
in his relief appearance.
The Kettleers improved to a Western Division-leading record
of 19-12 and increased their win streak to four games with 13 contests left on
the schedule. The victory marked Griffin's first of the
summer. He has appeared in 11 games,
starting two.
