First Pitch
With just three weeks remaining in the 2014 regular season, Stetson hosts Jacksonville in a key three-game Atlantic Sun Conference series this weekend.
One-half game separates the eighth-place Hatters and the seventh-place Dolphins in the A-Sun standings. Only the top eight teams in the 10-team league qualify for the A-Sun Tournament at the end of the month. Stetson currently has a 2.5 game lead over USC Upsate for the final spot.
Stetson hasn’t played since last Sunday’s loss at North Florida, while JU has been off since an April 22 win at Florida.
The series opens a four-game homestand for the Hatters. Stetson also hosts No. 6 Florida State on Tuesday.

Stetson vs. Jacksonville
Stetson and North Florida have met 158 times prior to this weekend, with the all-time series deadlocked at 78-78-2. The Hatters are 44-34-2 all-time against the Dolphins in DeLand. Stetson won two of three games against the Dolphins last season in Jacksonville.
Head coach Pete Dunn is 57-54-1 all-time against JU.

Scouting the Hatters
Stetson is looking to bounce back after dropping four of five games last week, including a pair of A-Sun losses at North Florida.
The Hatters enter this weekend with a .258 team batting, though they are hitting .293 in conference play. Stetson had 10 or more hits in each of its three games at UNF last weekend, matching their longest stretch of the season.
Sophomore Patrick Mazeika continues to lead the Hatters in hitting, as his .373 batting average ranks fifth in the A-Sun. Junior DH/1B Josh Powers had five hits and three RBI in the last two games of the UNF series, boosting his season average to .290.
Sophomore RHP Tyler Warmoth was Johnny-on-the-spot in last Saturday’s win over UNF as he tossed 3.0 innings of one-hit relief. Warmoth struck out six and walked none, improving his strikeout-to-walk ratio to 11-to-1 (44/4).
