DeLAND—The Atlantic Sun Conference announced its annual baseball awards on Tuesday, and three Stetson Hatters were among those honored.

Patrick Mazeika and Garrett Russini were named to the all-conference second team, while Taylor Cockrell was named to the all-freshman team. Voting was done by A-Sun head coaches.

Mazeika, a sophomore first baseman, enters this week’s A-Sun Championship in Fort Myers batting .366 with 17 doubles, two home runs and 22 RBI. He owns a .487 slugging percentage and a .492 on-base percentage. Mazeika ranks among league leaders in batting average (5th), on-base percentage (2nd), runs (t-10th), hits (t-7th), doubles (t-5th) and walks (5th).

In conference play, Mazeika batted .411 with one home run and 10 RBI.

Russini, a sophomore catcher, joins Mazeika on the second team. Stetson’s top run producer and power threat this season, Russini is currently batting .301 with 20 doubles, four triples, four home runs and 36 RBI. He leads the team in doubles, triples, homers and RBI, ranking among league leaders in doubles (3rd), triples (t-4th) and total bases (t-7th).

Russini hit .359 with four home runs and 27 RBI in A-Sun play.

Cockrell is enjoying a strong rookie season on the mound for the Hatters. The right-hander has appeared in 18 games, including 13 starts, and owns a 5-4 record and 4.28 ERA. In 90.1 innings he’s struck out 69 batters and walked just 27. He has the most wins by a Stetson freshman since 2008, and he’s thrown more innings than any Stetson freshman since 1999.

Kennesaw State’s Max Pentecost was named Player of the Year. FGCU teammates Michael Murray and Jake Noll earned Pitcher and Freshman of the Year honors, respectively. FGCU head coach Dave Tollett was named the league’s Coach of the Year.

The Hatters open A-Sun Tournament play at 1:15, Wednesday, against Mercer.
