According to media reports on Thursday, former Stetson baseball star Chris Johnson was included in a seven-player trade that sent the third baseman to the Atlanta Braves after less than a season with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Johnson, who signed a $2.3 million deal with Arizona earlier this month, was moved with outfielder Justin Upton in return for Martin Prado, Randall Delgado, Nick Ahmed, Zeke Spruill, and Brandon Drury.

The former Stetson Hatter will be replacing the iconic Chipper Jones at third base for the Braves.  Jones, a DeLand Native, is the God son of Stetson head coach Pete Dunn.  Jones's father Larry was Coach Dunn's teammate and roommate at Stetson, and an assistant coach with the Hatters for a decade.

Johnson hit .281 with career-bests of 15 home runs and 76 runs batted in during 136 games with the Diamondbacks and the Houston Astros last season. The third baseman also recorded career highs of 28 doubles and five triples in his fourth season in the majors.
