Emory and Crittenden Long Balls Lead Hatters

Macon, Ga. - Junior Sean Emory (Miami, Fla.) belted two home runs and Aaron Crittenden (Fort Myers, Fla.) added a game winning dinger in the top of the 10th inning as Stetson (17-15, 5-2 A-Sun) defeated Mercer (19-15, 5-5 A-Sun) 6-5 Friday night in Macon. Emory was named the player of the game after going 4-for-4 with a double, two runs scored, two doubles, and a stolen base.

Stetson starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (DeLeon Springs, Fla.) tossed 4 1/3 innings allowing four runs on 10 hits and striking out four. He gave way to David Burns (Seminole, Fla.) who held the Bears to one run over three complete innings. He gave up two hits and also struck out four. Closer Robbie Powell (Punta Gorda, Fla.) took over in the 8th inning and threw 2 2/3 innings of shutout ball. He allowed just one hit, struck out three and picked up the win improving to 2-0 on the season.

Ryan Lashley (Lake Worth, Fla.) and Spencer Theisen (Longwood, Fla.) each added a pair of hits for Stetson. Jeff Simpson (Valrico, Fla.) came up with an infield single in the 9th inning to extend his current hitting streak to 22 games.

The win over Mercer was Stetson's first victory of the season away from Melching Field.
