Stetson University Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote completed the women’s tennis team’s incoming class for 2013-14 on Tuesday with the announcement that Carolina Meregalli will be joining the squad for the upcoming season.
“Carolina possesses many of the attributes that we look for while recruiting top players,” Pilote said. “Her game is very well rounded, but the best aspect of Carolina’s game is that it has room for improvement. Her personality will fit very well with our 'team first' philosophy.”
A native of Milan, Italy, Meregalli was an Italian National Under-16 team championship quarterfinalist; she played in the National team championship B League, and took part in the National Italian Singles Championship.
While in the United States, Meregalli was a Super Series Under-16 Tournament finalist in Ormond Beach, and was the winner of both the Under-14 and Under-16 End of Summer Tournaments at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach.
Meregalli joins fellow newcomers Isabella Fernandez, Marta Gonzalez, and Brittany Hill as the incoming class for Stetson women’s tennis in the fall of 2013.
“Carolina is the latest in our recruiting class for the 2013-2014 season, which is a class that I think will be regarded as a very successful one in future years,” Pilote said.
The Stetson women’s tennis team opens fall action at the College of Charleston Invite on September 20.
