DELAND, Fla. – Fresh off of its non-conference win (7-0) vs. SUNY Oneonta, the Stetson University women’s tennis team will take its 13-5 record on the road this weekend for conference matches with Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky.

The Hatters stand at 3-3 in the conference, having won two A-Sun matches in a row, first vs. Mercer (5-0) last Friday and then 6-1 against Kennesaw State, Saturday in DeLand. Stetson first takes on the Bison, Friday, Apr. 4th at 4:30 p.m. in Nashville and then battles the Norse, Saturday, at 11 a.m. in Highland Heights, Ky.

"It is always challenging to play back-to-back matches against good teams," said Director of Stetson Tennis Pierre Pilote.  "The considerable distance between our opponents' locations also brings another challenge to the table."

The match with NKU will be the Hatters’ last with an A-Sun opponent in the regular season as they have one non-conference tilt with UCF (Apr. 10), before the A-Sun Championship (Apr. 18-20), at North Florida.

"Lipscomb has improved a lot in recent years, and their victory over KSU demonstrate that they are a force to be reckoned with," Pilote added. "NKU has also improved since last year."

The Hatters are one of five schools in the conference with three or more wins, and sit just one match behind FGCU for third place. Stetson has the most overall wins of any team in the A-Sun with its 13, the next closest being North Florida and Florida Gulf Coast, with 11 apiece.

Lipscomb enters the match-up Friday with a 2-2 conference mark and at 8-6 overall, while the Norse take on FGCU, Friday before its date with Stetson. NKU comes into the weekend winless in A-Sun play (0-4) and at 4-10 overall.

"It is extremely important to play well this weekend," Pilote explained. "Since we have only three matches left before a possible conference championship, we need to come out of each match better prepared for the next one."

Saturday’s match with NKU will be available for fans to watch via ASunTV. Fans can also follow @StetsonTennis on Twitter and sign up for Hat-Alerts, the athletic department’s official text messaging system for match updates.
