Nashville, Tenn.  – With bad weather looming the Stetson University women’s tennis team made quick work of Lipscomb, Friday afternoon, 4-0 in a rain shortened match. Because of the threatening skies, the Hatters and Bison played a clinch format, meaning competition concluded after the first team earned four points.

For Stetson that point came following the third singles match, when MayaBlue Stauffer-MacDowell won her contest on court No. 4 (6-0, 6-4) to secure her team’s fourth straight victory.

The Hatters jumped out to an early 1-0 lead following doubles play when Stauffer -MacDowell and Diana Bukajeva were victorious (8-6) on court No. 1. The pairing of Lindsey Cable and Eveline Lepinay on court No. 3 gave their squad the team point by way of an 8-5 decision.

Andrea Crespo lead off singles competition with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph on court No. 2, followed by a Bukajeva win on court No. 1 (6-4, 6-1), to set the stage for Stauffer-MacDowell’s clincher.

Isabella Fenandez’s match on court No. 3 was suspended in the second set following Stetson’s fourth point. The same went for Lepinay on court No. 5 who was just in the first set of play.

"The rain delay and windy conditions did not affect the team as they played an excellent match today,” Director of Stetson Tennis Pierre Pilote said. “Now we have to regroup quickly to play an excellent NKU team tomorrow morning"

Stetson, now 14-5 and 4-3 in A-Sun play have a quick turnaround as Pilote explained, taking on Northern Kentucky, Saturday at 11 a.m., in Highland Heights. The match will be available for fans to watch via nkunorse.com.
