Stetson Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote has been named to the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Committee. He replaces former ETSU Director of Athletics and men’s tennis coach David Mullins as one of 12 members on the committee.

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve on this committee as the replacement for David Mullins,” Pilote said. “I have a lot of respect for ‘Coach’ Mullins and I will work diligently to represent Stetson, the Atlantic Sun Conference, and our region to the best of my abilities.”

The NCAA committee is responsible for the administration of the NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships, as well as the selection of tournament participants. The committee consists of 12 total members, six representing men’s tennis and six representing women’s tennis.

Pilote has been a part of the Stetson tennis program since becoming the head men’s coach for the 1993-94 season. Since then the Hatters have enjoyed tremendous success, including six straight trips to the A-Sun Championship match from 2006-11.

With Pilote at the helm, the men’s tennis team has compiled a staggering record of 383-124. During his 20-year tenure, Pilote has also coached the women’s tennis team for four seasons. From 1997-99, and since taking over again in 2011, he has recorded a 53-40 mark.

Pilote and the tennis program get back to work this fall in preparation to challenge for the A-Sun Title in the spring of 2014.
