Consisting of four tournaments each during the months of September and October, the Stetson men’s and women’s teams revealed their 2013 fall schedules on Friday, as was announced by Director of Tennis Pierre Pilote.

The men open things up taking part in the Southern Intercollegiate in Athens, Georgia from Sept. 13-15. The Hatters will then play at the All-American Pre-Qualifying and Qualifying tournaments from Sept. 28 to Oct. 3 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The fall will come to a close at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from Oct. 11-13.

“Anytime you have the opportunity to play against such high level opponents in the fall, I believe that it helps further the development and enhance the preparedness of our players for the spring season,” Pilote said of the men’s fall slate.

“The All-American championship brings together the strongest field of the year in men’s tennis,” Pilote when on to say. “It will be a great experience for our young players and they will follow in the footsteps of former Hatters participants; Marcus Echtler, Hicham Laalej, Filip Kricka and Cesare Gallo.

“We have a few players that will be aiming to break into the national singles rankings and one team who will be looking to do the same in doubles,” Pilote concluded about his men’s squad. “I am looking for our players to grow and fulfill the high expectations that we have for each of them.”

The women will begin their 2013 campaign at the College of Charleston Invite from Sept. 20-22. The Hatters will continue schedule at the Wake Forest Fall Invite from Sept. 27-19, before competing in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional Championship in Athens, Georgia from Oct. 17-20. The women’s fall will conclude at the Georgia Southern Invite in Statesboro from Oct. 25-27.

“The women will play a very strong fall schedule,” Pilote said. With many new faces, it will give the team an opportunity to experience the high level of play that we will face in the spring.

“Both Wake Forest and College of Charleston will once again give us a great chance to face strong adversaries,” Pilote continued. “I am looking for our seniors to set the tone this fall. They are great competitors and always welcome challenges. I am confident that our underclassmen will follow suit.”

The Stetson men’s tennis team finished last season with a record of 15-4, while the women’s team ended the year with an 11-10 mark and a trip to the Atlantic Sun Conference Semifinals.
