Johnson City, Tenn. - The Stetson women's tennis team (15-2, 6-2 Atlantic Sun) came up on the short end of a match for only the second time this spring, falling 4-2 at league-leading ETSU (10-6, 7-1 A-Sun) on Saturday.  Despite losing the doubles point, the Hatters came up just a spare few games shy of slipping out of town with the victory.

ETSU took all three doubles matches from the Hatters and got quick wins by Karina Kedzo and Diana Navrostska in singles to come within one point of victory, but senior Unnati Purushotham (Hyderabad, India) held the Bucs back temporarily with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kelly Holtzhausen at #2 singles.  Sophomore Carolina de los Santos (Montevideo, Uruguay), the A-Sun Player of the Week, rallied from a set down to beat Paula Jaime 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 at the top of the lineup for a second point, but Stetson would get no closer.

Marine Wieliczko just edged out junior Shannon Gunning (Boca Raton, Fla.) for the clinching point 1-6, 6-4, 6-4.  The #6 match was left unfinished, but freshman Lindsey Cable (Gainesville, Fla.) was ahead of Andra Voinea at the time 7-6, 4-6, 5-3 and only one game from a win.

The Hatters wrap up the A-Sun regular season slate next weekend in the River City.  Stetson visits defending A-Sun tournament champion North Florida at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 1 before facing off with Jacksonville at 2 p.m. the following afternoon.
