After leading the Stetson women’s tennis team to two wins senior Diana Bukajeva was named Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Wednesday.
It marks the second time this season and fifth time in her career that Bukajeva has earned the honors from the conference. She is the only player in the league to earn the accolades twice thus far in the 2014 season.
Bukajeva won in straight sets in both Stetson matches this week, earning a 6-0, 6-2 win against UNCG and earning a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win against Illinois State, both coming at the number one singles position. She helped the Hatters extend their winning streak to nine matches, tying a program record.
Like the Hatters, Bukajeva is now 9-1 in singles play on the season. She is also 8-2 overall in doubles action.
Stetson continues regular season play with the first A-Sun matches of the season. The Hatters hit the road to take on USC Upstate and ETSU this weekend.
