Rain Postpones A-Sun Tennis Championships

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Both Stetson men’s and women’s tennis matches at the Atlantic Sun Championships have been postponed until Saturday because of the rainy weather in Jacksonville, Friday morning.

The Hatter men’s match with No. 1 seed ETSU started as scheduled at 9 a.m. and got through doubles play with the Bucs taking the first two to go up 1-0 in the team match, and that’s when the rains came.

After a lengthy delay stretching into the early afternoon, it was decided by coaches and conference officials to resume both men’s semifinals matches, Saturday morning Apr. 19th. No. 4 Stetson and ETSU will start at 9 a.m., with singles play, while No. 3 FGCU  and No. 2 North Florida will begin at 11 a.m., looking to wrap-up doubles play.

The Stetson’s women’s match with No. 1 North Florida was set to begin at 12 p.m., Friday, but now will begin at 1 p.m., Saturday on the Ospreys’ home courts. No. 4 SU and UNF will play at the same time No. 2 ETSU and No. 3 FGCU battle in semifinals action.

Both men’s and women’s title matches have been moved back a day, and now will take place, Sunday, Apr. 20th, with the men playing at 10 a.m., and the women at 1 p.m., at the UNF Tennis Complex.
