Fort Myers, Fla. - The Stetson volleyball team (2-25, 0-10 Atlantic Sun) saw its 2010 season come to an end Saturday evening with a 25-21, 25-14, 25-19 road loss at league rival Florida Gulf Coast (7-19, 3-7 A-Sun).  Sophomore libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) registered a match-high 21 digs and finishes the year with 445 digs, good for second place in the Stetson record book and just 10 shy of the season record set by Cindy Benge in 1991.

Freshman middle blocker Ellen Hawks (Austin, Texas) hit .389 with eight kills to lead the Stetson offense; sophomore setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) notched 26 assists, six digs and three kills.

Emma Racila and Chelsea Lyles led the FGCU attack with 14 and 13 kills, respectively, while setter Camil Dominguez had a 46-assist, 10-dig double-double.  Holly Youngquist had 12 digs and nine kills with Alexa Napoleon (12 digs), Caitlin Shawver (12 digs) and Lindsey Childs (11 digs) reaching double-digit defensive totals for the Eagles as well.

The Hatters will return five of six starters plus Russell for the 2011 campaign.  Only two upperclassmen played in tonight's final match for Stetson with right side Brandy Worlton (Crystal River, Fla.) getting six kills and defensive specialist Sabrina Dodd (Ocala, Fla.) tallying one dig.
