DeLand, Fla. - Sophomore libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) moved into eighth place on the Stetson all-time single-season digs list, but the Hatters volleyball team (1-21) fell in four sets at the Edmunds Center to visiting Seattle University (13-12) on Saturday.  Set scores were 25-14, 25-17, 20-25, 25-18 in favor of the Redhawks.

Russell, who entered the day ranked second in the Atlantic Sun Conference with 4.39 digs per set, added 29 more today to bring that average up to 4.53 per set.  Her season total now stands at 358; she passed three players to stand in eighth place on the Hatters all-time list.  With six more digs Russell will tie Lisa Bickerton's seventh place total from 1990; the Stetson single season record for digs is 455, set by Cindy Benge in 1991.  Russell can own the record herself if she averages 19.5 digs per match in Stetson's final five outings of the 2010 campaign.

Sophomore setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) and freshman outside hitter Kaley Melville (New Germany, Minn.) each narrowly missed double-doubles in Saturday's match.  Carneal finished with 36 assists, nine digs and a career-high six service aces while Melville had 10 digs and nine kills.  Also tying for the team lead with nine kills were freshman middle blocker Ellen Hawks (Austin, Texas) and senior right side Brandy Worlton (Crystal River, Fla.)

Cristin Richards paced Seattle U. to the win with 23 kills, 11 digs, four aces and three blocks.  Sarah Jaeckel (14 kills, 10 digs) and Janet Beckerman (11 kills) also put in strong work for the Redhawks on offense.  Jamie Mellies handed out 52 assists with nine digs and four kills while Emily Deleissegues and Megan Augustavo led the defense with 18 and 11 digs, respectively.

The Hatters return to A-Sun action Friday when they visit East Tennessee State at 7 p.m. Friday.  The match will be available on A-Sun.TV.
