DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson volleyball team (2-8, 0-1 Atlantic Sun) dropped its fifth straight match as Atlantic Sun Conference action opened Friday evening with a 25-21, 25-17, 25-12 sweep at the hands of visiting North Florida (6-7, 1-0 A-Sun) at the Edmunds Center. Senior outside hitter Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) led the Hatters with 10 kills on the night.
UNF dominated the action from the first serve and never let up, out-hitting Stetson .356 to .031. The Ospreys recorded 37 kills and just six attack errors on the night, also out-blocking the Hatters 10-3. Stetson had 30 kills and 27 attack errors. UNF hit for 15 kills without making a single error in a .556-hitting third set rout.
Ream tied for the match high with 10 kills, just one off her season high, adding eight digs and three blocks to that total. Junior setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) had 13 assists, eight digs and four kills while junior libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) tied for the match high with 10 digs.
Paige Pridgeon paced UNF with a 10-kill, 10-dig double-double while Anna Budinska (eight digs, seven kills) and Cameron McGuire (seven kills) each rolled through the match completely errorless. Britt Claessens collected 17 assists and six digs with Casey Giovanazzi chipping in 11 assists to the Osprey cause.
