Stetson Rolls Past Southeastern in Three-Set Sweep

DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson volleyball team improved to 4-10 on the season, surpassing its 2009 and 2010 combined season victory totals, with a 25-16, 25-14, 25-18 sweep of visiting Southeastern University (4-11) Tuesday evening at the Edmunds Center. Senior outside hitter Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) notched an 11-dig, 10-kill double-double, her second in a row and third of the season.

The Hatters outhit the NAIA Sun Conference's Fire .240 to .000, knocking down 11.5 blocks and taking advantage of 26 Fire attack errors on the night. Sophomore outside hitter Kaley Melville (New Germany, Minn.) finished with a match-high 11 kills while Ream's 10 kills came on .409 hitting (10-1-22).

With its regular starting setter, junior Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) unavailable, Stetson got 15 assists and six digs from junior Alisha Hoffman (Leesburg, Fla.) and a career-high 11 assists from freshman Erika White (Jacksonville, Ill.). Ream and junior libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Stetson defense with 11 digs apiece.

For Southeastern, Karina Mambuca led the offense with eight kills while Tara McSherley (21 assists, nine digs) and Katie Trenski (16 digs) did the majority of the serving and defensive work.

The Hatters will play two Atlantic Sun Conference road matches in Georgia this weekend, visiting Kennesaw State at 7:00 pm Friday and Mercer at 3:00 pm Saturday. Live Stat links will be at if available while fans can watch the matches on ASun.TV.
