Nashville, Tenn. - Defending Atlantic Sun Conference champion Lipscomb (15-6, 8-0 A-Sun) kept its 13-match winning streak alive and remained unbeaten in the conference with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-15 sweep over the visiting Stetson volleyball team (6-14, 1-7 A-Sun) Friday at Allen Arena. Junior libero Monique Russell (Phoenix, Ariz.) led Stetson with 11 digs.
The Hatters simply couldn't get much going on offense against the powerful Lady Bisons, getting out-hit .398 to .035 and out-killed 43-19. No Hatter had more than five kills; there was a three-way tie for the team high among senior Kaylee Ream (Venice, Fla.) and sophomores Ellen Hawks (Austin, Texas) and Kaley Melville. Junior setter Kelli Carneal (Fredericksburg, Va.) made her return from a leg injury that kept her out the past six matches and had a team-high 10 assists.
Lauren Ford led the way for Lipscomb with 14 kills and four aces on .448 hitting. Setters Caitlin Dotson (22 assists, 11 digs) and Abby Fay (15 assists, 11 digs, four kills) each put up double-doubles for the Lady Bisons on "Dig Pink" Night for breast cancer awareness. Stetson will host its own such match next Saturday, October 29 at 3:00 pm vs. FGCU.
The Hatters conclude their Music City road trip at 3:00 pm ET (2:00 pm local CT) tomorrow at A-Sun foe Belmont. The match will be broadcast on ASun.TV; a link to Live Stats is available at GoHatters.com.
