Hatters Host UNF in Passionately Pink 2012 Match

The Stetson volleyball team hosts UNF tonight at 7 p.m. in its Passionately Pink 2012 match.  The Hatters will be outfitted in pink and accepting donations to help the fight against breast cancer.   All proceeds will go to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

The Hatters (4-26, 0-13 A-Sun) picked off a set against first-place FGCU on Saturday and are seeking their first A-Sun victory of the season tonight.  The Ospreys (16-11, 7-7 A-Sun) are 4-1 in their last five A-Sun matches including a road sweep last weekend at Kennesaw and Mercer.

Ticket Information
General Admission tickets are $5 for adults and $4 for seniors and students.  All Stetson home events are free to Stetson students, faculty, and staff with a Stetson University ID.  For more information call (386) 822-8110.

Single-Season Digs Record
Senior libero Monique Russell is just 10 digs away from setting the Stetson single-season digs record.  She currently has picked up 446 digs this season, surpassing her sophomore year total by one.  Cindy Benge currently holds the single-season record with 455 digs recorded in the 1991 season.

Career-Best For Melville
Junior outside hitter Kaley Melville is the first Hatter since Rebecca Orzechowicz in 2007 to record 300 kills in a season.  She currently ranks 11th in school history with 829 career kills, and she currently has 799 career digs.

100 Blocks For Hawks
Junior middle blocker Ellen Hawks has recorded 99 blocks on the season (8 solos, 91 assists).  The last Hatter to record a 100-block season was Meghan Wright (110 blocks) in 2002.

Stetson is one of three Division I teams to have played 30 matches this season.  Fordham and North Texas are the other two.  Eight other teams have played 29 matches.

A-Sun Statistical Rankings
Junior Ellen Hawks ranks second in the A-Sun in total blocks (99) and fourth in blocks/set (0.93).  Senior Monique Russell ranks seventh in the league in digs per set (4.13).

Hawks Among All-Time Stetson Blocking Leaders
Ellen Hawks has 263 career blocks, the most among all active players in the Atlantic Sun.  She also holds the Stetson school record for career blocks during the rally-scoring era (since 2001).  

Russell Among All-Time A-Sun Digs Leaders
Monique Russell, Stetson’s all-time digs leader, ranks 12th in conference history (since 2001) with 1385 career digs.  She needs three more digs to move into the top 10 in A-Sun history.

Kaley Melville and Kelli Carneal have each recorded eight double-doubles this season and Cailyn Prewitt and Kayla Weller have one double-double each.

The Hatter freshmen have combined to make 60 starts this season, exactly 1/3 of the team’s total for matches started.  Here is a list of the number of matches started for Hatter freshmen:
