The Stetson University volleyball team (15-10, 6-4 A-Sun) will make its first-ever appearance on ESPN3 Friday night as the Hatters travel to Kennesaw, Ga., to take on the Kennesaw State Owls (8-12, 3-7). First serve is set for 7 p.m. in a match broadcast via ESPN3.com and the WatchESPN app for mobile devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
Stetson will also face Mercer (1-20, 0-11) at 3 p.m. on Saturday, completing a key weekend of Atlantic Sun Conference matches. A pair of victories by the Hatters would put the team on the verge of securing a spot for the A-Sun Championship, Nov. 21-23 in Kennesaw.
Stetson defeated both Kennesaw State and Mercer in DeLand earlier this season, but both matches were tightly contested. The Hatters topped the Bears 3-1 (25-22, 18-25, 25-12, 25-20) on Sept. 27, and edged the Owls 3-1 (29-27, 26-24, 23-25, 25-22) on Sept. 28. Tiffany Creamer combined for 28 kills in the two matches and was later named the A-Sun Freshman of the Week.
Stetson is coming off a 3-0 setback at Jacksonville on Tuesday, but not before a couple of Hatters moved up the career leaderboard in school history. Kaley Melville now ranks third all-time with 1178 kills, and Ellen Hawks ranks fifth all-time with 364 blocks. Both Melville and Hawks have also recently surpassed 400 sets played.
The Hatters will also be on ESPN3 on Nov. 15 at Lipscomb, as well as each match in the A-Sun Championship.
