Stetson men’s basketball head coach Corey Williams announced a fourth National Letter of Intent signing to his first full recruiting class on Sunday. Point guard Divine Myles of Mobile, Ala. will join the Hatters squad for the 2014-15 season.
Myles, who attends Blount High School in Alabama, has been recruited by the likes of Auburn, Seton Hall, Northwestern, and more, but chose to attend Stetson for his collegiate career.
The 5-10 true point guard was named Alabama Class 6A All-State last season as a junior after leading the Leopards to the state finals with 10 assists per game.
“He’s one of those guys that you want to make sure you have to lead your team,” Williams said of Myles. “He is an excellent defender and he’s shown that he has the ability to both score the basketball and find his teammates. I’m excited to have him in the fold, because I think he adds a lot to what we’re trying to do.”
Blount joins Jonathan Joseph, Wyatt Sikora, and Grant Lozoya, who all signed earlier in the week, as members of Williams’ first full recruiting class as a head coach.
“The talent level is increasing,” Williams said of the four players he’s brought in. “They were recruited by a lot of good teams, and they weren’t easy to get. When you look at the group, they’re all skilled, they all have a high basketball IQ, and so this is a group that will bring a more intense value of what we already have on this team. They are kids that we think can take this program to the next level.”
Stetson continues its 2013-14 season on Tuesday, hosting cross-county rival Bethune-Cookman at 7:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.
