Coming off of an exciting home victory over Florida Atlantic on Dec. 17, the Stetson men’s basketball team finally returns to action at the Edmunds Center on Monday night. The Hatters open up Atlantic Sun Conference play hosting Lipscomb at 7:00 p.m.
Just as was the case before their matchup with FAU, the Hatters are coming off of a long layoff prior to Monday’s meeting with the Bisons. Stetson will have 12 days between games, giving the team plenty of time to practice and prepare for the first conference tilt of the 2013-14 campaign.
Stetson hopes to continue the success it has had at home this season by improving on its 2-1 record at the Edmunds Center. The Hatters currently have victories over cross-county rival Bethune-Cookman and Florida Atlantic. Senior Willie Green, who leads Stetson with 13.2 points per game, also leads the league in scoring at home with a 22.0 point per game average in DeLand this year.
Lipscomb comes to town with an overall record of 5-6 and an identical 2-1 home record. The Bisons are coming off of an 88-83 win over Austin Peay on Dec. 19, making it 10 days since their last game competition. Martin Smith leads Lipscomb and is second in the A-Sun with an 18.0 points per game average.
Stetson holds a 12-11 advantage in the all-time series against Lipscomb, which dates back to a 67-59 Bisons victory back in 1962. The Hatters, however, hold a decisive 9-3 lead at home during the series, and won both matchups between the two teams last season.
The game can be watched live on HatterVision and listened to on WSBB AM 1230, WTJV AM 1490, or online at MyAM1230.com with Robbie Aaron on the call. Live Stats, the @StetsonMBB Twitter feed, and Hat-Alerts are also available for in-game updates.
