Following a season-best three-game win streak earlier in the year, the Stetson men’s basketball team has now lost five of its last six games, but will look to halt that trend on Friday. The Hatters host visiting Kennesaw State at 7:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.

Stetson (7-19, 5-9) struggled this past weekend, falling on the road to ETSU and USC Upstate, continuing the Hatters’ poor performance away from DeLand. Fortunately, Stetson returns home on Friday, where the team has a record of 6-4 and has defeated Atlantic Sun Conference opponents Lipscomb, ETSU, USC Upstate, and Jacksonville this season.

Kennesaw State (5-22, 2-12) comes into this weekend’s matchup with the Hatters having won just two games in its last 19 outings. Like Stetson, the Owls have won just one game on the road, defeating Chattanooga by four points back in November. KSU’s two league victories came at home to USC Upstate and Northern Kentucky.

The Hatters are currently in a tie for seventh place in the league standings with Jacksonville, holding a mark of 5-9. Stetson can clinch its second straight berth to the A-Sun Tournament with a win over Kennesaw State on Friday. At 2-12, the Owls would be four games back of the Hatters with a loss this weekend, and only three games would remain on the schedule.

The last time these two teams met Stetson came away with its only road victory on the season, winning 68-65 in Kennesaw back on Jan. 23. Senior Willie Green led the Hatters with 24 points, while junior Kentwan Smith and redshirt-freshman Brian Pegg added 13 points each.

Stetson holds a 10-7 advantage over Kennesaw State in the all-time series, which began in 2006. The Hatters have won the last five meetings between the two teams, sweeping the season series each of the last two seasons. Stetson will aim to make that a third straight sweep on Friday.

Friday’s game can be watched live on HatterVision, or listened to on WSBB AM 1230, WTJV AM 1490, and online at Live Stats, the @StetsonMBB Twitter feed, and Hat-Alerts are also available for in-game updates.
