Hatters’ Post Season Ends Quickly With Loss to Runnin’ Bulldogs
Stetson opened the game strong with a 14-6 run. At 6:27 when freshman Shawn Bowen knocked down a 3-pointer the Hatters pushed the advantage to as many as 12. However, as the clock ran down the Runnin’ Bulldogs chased down the Hatters’ lead. When GWU’s Aaron Linn hit a jumper with seven seconds remaining the Hatters went into the locker room up by just one point at 29-28.
Stetson generated a balanced offense and spread the ball around. Every Hatter that played in the first half, with the exception of center Tim Lang (Victoria, Australia) hit at least one field goal (9 of 10 players). Mark Lohuis (

“We ran into a buzz saw today said Hatters head coach Derek Waugh. “We knew coming in what they were capable of. We needed to make the game a grinder for us to win. We were able to do that in the first half, but not in the second.”
“When they went to a smaller lineup against us it was difficult to match up”, he added.

The Hatters are now 8-18 all-time in 21 years of A-Sun (TAAC) Tournament play. Under head coach Derek Waugh Stetson is 2-5 in the post season. Stetson completes its season with an overall record of 16-16, and they were 11-5 in Atlantic Sun Conference play.
