DeLand, Fla. - Stetson's Corey Walden and Luis Jacobo have been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team for the 2010-11 season. The All-Conference and All-Freshman teams are voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Hatter teammates become just the third pair of teammates to make the All-Freshmen Team in the last seven years. The Jacksonville duo of Ben Smith and Lehmon Colbert made the five-man squad in 2006-07. One season later, Adnan Hodzic and Josh Slater made the team from Lipscomb.
Walden finished the season 2nd on the team in scoring with 12.0 points per game and fourth in rebounding with 3.3 per game. He is 2nd in the conference in steals with 2.33 per game and 9th in assists at 3.25 per game. His 56 steals this season is 10th best all-time at Stetson. He was also 3rd in the conference in free throw shooting with an .825 percentage from the line. Walden was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week for the week ending February 7.
Jacobo finished up his inaugural season 3rd on the team and 28th in the league in scoring at 9.2 points per game and 3rd on the team in rebounds with 4.0 per game. In league games Jacobo finished 19th with 11.4 points per game and was 11th in 3-point field goal percentage at .380. He was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week for the week ending January 17th, and again this past week after putting up 28 points and 11 rebounds in final game of the season. Jacobo registered two double-doubles on the year.
