Pegg Earns Second A-Sun Award

For the second time this season, Stetson junior center Adam Pegg has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Newcomer of the Week. Pegg also received the award following the opening week of the season.

The Clearwater, Fla., native earned the award following a career-best 31-point performance against A-Sun co-leader Belmont on Monday night. It was the second highest scoring individual performance in the A-Sun this year.

Pegg also scored 18 points against Lipscomb on Saturday and averaged 24.5 points over the two games while shooting 67.9 percent from the floor. Pegg did his damage from both the paint and the perimeter against Belmont, hitting a career-high five three-pointers while also connecting on 8-of-8 attempts from inside the arc.

For the season, Pegg is the Hatters leading scorer, averaging 14.7 points per game, and leading rebounder with 5.5 boards per outing. He is shooting 50.4 percent from the field for the year, including 36 percent from three-point range. He is also one of the top free throw shooters in the conference, hitting 73.3 percent for the season.

Pegg and the Hatters will be back in action on Friday night at Florida Gulf Coast in a game that will be televised as the A-Sun game of the week on CSS at 7 p.m.. The game will be replayed on the Brighthouse Sports Network at 9:30 p.m.
