Stetson men’s basketball head coach Corey Williams announced the hiring of Kevin Dux as the program’s Director of Basketball Operations for the upcoming 2013-14 season on Monday morning.

Dux joins the Hatters after a two-year stint as a graduate assistant with the Florida State men’s basketball program, where he worked closely with Williams and Assistant Coach Bert Capel during their time in Tallahassee.

“I’m excited,” Williams said of the hiring. “Kevin did an unbelievable job at Florida State keeping things organized. He’s going to be very important to me and this basketball program. He has a wealth of knowledge, he’s experienced, and I’m going to rely on him a lot.”

Dux earned a Master of Science degree in Sport Management at Florida State while assisting the Seminoles basketball program for two seasons. At FSU he was responsible for tracking the academic progression of the student-athletes, assisting with film breakdown and scouting reports, helping coaches with recruiting visits, and supervising five undergraduate managers.

“I’m very excited,” Dux said of the opportunity. “Obviously I’ve had a great relationship with Coach Williams over the last two years at Florida State, he’s treated me well, and I’ve learned a lot from him. I’m very excited to be a part of this staff and to get to learn from the coaches here at Stetson.”

A four-year letterwinner at Coe College in Iowa, Dux earned All-Iowa Conference, Academic All-Iowa Conference, ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District, and NABC Honors Court accolades as a student-athlete.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Coe College in 2009, Dux stayed at his alma mater as an assistant coach for two seasons.

“I’m looking forward to Kevin coming in and having an impact on our basketball program,” Williams continued. “He’s an excellent young man, he’s very intelligent, and he will do a good job for us here at Stetson.”

Dux is also a veteran of Leonard Hamilton’s Florida State Basketball Camp, where he worked as an Assistant Camp Director. There he was responsible for all administrative camp functions, executing an effective marketing campaign for the event, as well as the hiring and monitoring of camp staff.

The newest member of the Stetson men’s basketball staff joins Williams, Capel, and assistant coaches Mike Jaskulski and Nikita Johnson.
