MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference announced Comcast Sports Southeast’s (CSS) coverage of the league’s 2013-14 basketball season on Tuesday morning, and the dozen games include a pair of contests featuring the Stetson Hatters taking on defending conference champion Florida Gulf Coast.
The partnership between the A-Sun and CSS enters its 12th season in 2013-14 and it will once again feature some of the best rivalry games in the conference, as well as tournament coverage.
The first CSS game of the year will take place when Stetson hosts FGCU on Jan. 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center. When Stetson makes the return trip to Fort Myers on Jan. 31 for a 7:00 p.m. contest, the Hatters and the Eagles will square off on both CSS and ESPN3.
Stetson and FGCU split the regular season series last season with each team winning on its home court. The Hatters came away victorious when the two teams met in DeLand on CSS and ESPN3 late in the 2012-13 campaign. Stetson won that game 80-71 and became the last team to defeat FGCU before its A-Sun Championship run and trip to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Also to be featured on CSS and ESPN3 this season is the A-Sun semifinals, a round of competition the Hatters reached last year. This season the tournament is being held at the campus sites of the higher seed in every game.
The team of Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith returns to handle play-by-play duties and color commentary, respectively, for the Friday night broadcasts. Stewart is in his seventh season calling A-Sun basketball, while Smith returns for his 12th season.
