Coming off of its first win of the season the Stetson men’s basketball team will travel down to Orlando Saturday to take on local rival UCF. The Hatters (1-9) and the Knights (3-3) are scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3.

Stetson used an 18-point first half advantage to defeat Bethune-Cookman 56-52 on Tuesday at the Edmunds Center. Senior Willie Green scored in double figures for the sixth time in the last seven games, leading the Hatters with 18 points in their first victory of the season.

After an eight-game road trip to start the year, Stetson is now in the middle of seven-game span consisting of six tilts at the Edmunds Center. After taking on the Knights in Orlando, the Hatters will return home for four straight contests in DeLand.

UCF welcomes Stetson to town for its first home game since Nov. 17, when the Knights defeated Bethune-Cookman 83-63. UCF is 3-3 on the season, but has lost its last two, falling at Valparaiso 85-70, and most recently dropping a road tilt to Florida Atlantic, 75-64.

Led by a pair of guards in Calvin Newell and Isaiah Sykes, UCF is shooting nearly 44 percent from the floor, but only 52.9 percent from the free throw line (74-of-140). Newell is averaging 18.2 points and 3.7 assists per game, while Sykes is scoring 16.3 points per contest and hauling in 6.8 rebounds per.

The Hatters will be looking to win their first game against UCF since an 83-65 victory back in 2001. The Knights have won the last 13 meetings between the two teams, and hold a 24-15 overall advantage in the series.
