The Stetson men’s basketball team returns home on Thursday for an Atlantic Sun Conference contest against visiting North Florida. The Hatters (6-16, 4-6) and the Ospreys (12-12, 6-5) are scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m. at the Edmunds Center.

The Hatters are coming off of a pair of road losses against the top two teams in the league in Mercer and Florida Gulf Coast. The last time Stetson played at home, however, the Hatters came out victorious against USC Upstate and ETSU.

Stetson will be attempting to avenge a loss from earlier this season when UNF scored the first seven points en route to a 74-60 win in Jacksonville back on Jan. 11. Hatters junior Kentwan Smith was one of the lone bright spots in that loss, pouring in a career high 27 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field.

It was Smith who had the hot hand last weekend when Stetson lost by just three points on a last-second three-pointer by FGCU. The junior recorded his first double-double of the season with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and a career high five steals. Smith was named A-Sun Co-Newcomer of the Week for his performance.

With the loss earlier in the season, Stetson now leads North Florida 10-8 in the all-time series, which dates back to a 95-75 home win for the Hatters back in 1993. The two teams didn’t play again until 2006 when Stetson continued to earn victories in seven straight before UNF finally won in 2009. The Ospreys have now won eight of the last 11 meetings, and the last four in a row.

Thursday’s game can be watched on HatterVision or listened to on WSBB AM 1230, WTJV AM 1490, and online at Live Stats, the @StetsonMBB Twitter feed, and Hat-Alerts are also available for in-game updates.
