MACON, Ga. – Stetson men’s basketball redshirt-freshman Brian Pegg was one of five student-athletes named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team on Monday afternoon, as announced by the league office.
Pegg was joined by North Florida’s Dallas Moore, Lipscomb’s J.C. Hampton and Josh Williams, and ETSU’s A.J. Merriweather.
Having led the Hatters and ranking seventh in the league with 6.4 rebounds per game, Pegg becomes the eighth person in Stetson history to be named to the conference All-Freshman squad. He is the first since Luis Jacobo and Corey Walden both earned the honors in 2010-11.
Pegg has averaged 8.5 points per game, while playing 29.3 minutes per tilt in 29 contests this season. The freshman is shooting 44.2 percent from the floor and has added 48 assists, 11 blocks, and 24 steals in 2013-14.
The forward was named A-Sun Newcomer of the Week earlier this season after recording one of his team-best three double-doubles on the year. He totaled career highs of 18 points and 15 rebounds at Jacksonville to receive accolades.
Pegg and the Hatters take on FGCU in the A-Sun Quarterfinals Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
