Stetson To Face Florida Atlantic in Atlantic Sun Tournament

DeLand, Fla. ' The Stetson University men's basketball team will face Florida Atlantic in the quarterfinals of the 2006 Atlantic Sun Conference Men's Basketball Championship at 9:30 p.m. Thursday night at ETSU's Memorial Center in Johnson City, Tenn.
The game will be televised live by CSS-TV.
The sixth-seeded Hatters (13-17) will enter the conference tournament as one of the hottest teams in the nation.? Winners of eight in a row and 11 of their last 12 games, Stetson currently owns the seventh-longest active winning streak in the nation.
'We are probably playing our best basketball of the year right now, which is great heading into the conference tournament,' Hatter head coach Derek Waugh said.? 'I think our guys are enjoying the season and they really want it to continue.? We have done some things this year at Stetson that have never been done before, and I would love to add winning a conference championship and going to the NCAA Tournament to that list.'
Stetson's quarterfinals opponent will be the third-seeded Florida Atlantic (15-12).? The Owls are also on a roll, having won four straight and six out of eight.
Stetson and FAU split their two-game regular season series, with each team winning on its home court.? The Owls won the only previous postseason meeting between the two schools, 66-56 in the 2000 A-Sun tournament in Jacksonville.
The Stetson-FAU winner will advance to Friday's semifinal round?to face the winner of the Belmont-Campbell contest.? The championship game will be played at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon and will be broadcast live by ESPN-2.
