Stetson Men's Basketball Signs Mark Lohuis
April 17, 2006

DeLand, Fla. -- Stetson University men's basketball head coach Derek Waugh announced the signing Monday of Mark Lohuis (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach HS) to a National Letter-of-Intent.

Lohuis, a 6-3 guard, averaged 15.0 points and 10.2 rebounds last season at Vero Beach High School. He earned second-team All-State honors and was named the Area Player of the Year. He helped lead the Indians (27-4) to a conference, district and regional championship and a Final Four appearance in the Class 6A state championship.

"I am very excited about Mark," Waugh said. "His reputation is that of a very good shooter, but I am more excited about the intangibles that he will bring to the court that the casual fan might miss. He is also very tough and a winner in every respect as he proved at Vero Beach."

Lohuis joins Sheldon Oliver, Brandon Williams, and Olivier Dupiton as Stetson's signees for the 2006-07 academic year.
