DeLand, Fla. - The Atlantic Sun Conference office has announced that Stetson's Tessa Gavilsky has been named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 3rd, 2010. Over the weekend the senior out of Granite City, Illinois helped lead the team to a pair of big victories over conference foes Kennesaw State and Mercer. It was the first time in program history the Hatters had defeated both schools in the same weekend.

In Friday's 4-1 win over Kennesaw State Gavilsky scored one goal and assisted on two others. On Sunday she tallied two goals in Stetson's 5-1 victory. The Hatters have now won their last three games and moved up into a tie for 3rd place in the conference standings.

Gavilsky is the two-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and a member of the 2010 Preseason All-Conference team. She won the scoring titles in 2008 and 2009 and currently leads in points scored (19) this season along with Lisa Hensley of Jacksonville University. She also leads the league in assists (7) along with teammate Katie Bitetto.

Bitetto, along with Stetson freshman Alyssa Welsh were also strong candidates for the weekly award. Over the weekend Bitetto had one goal and added three assists, while Welsh scored three goals, two of them game-winners.
