MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Danielle Hurme was named Atlantic Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance over the weekend, as announced by the league on Monday.
The honor marked the first weekly accolades for Stetson this season, and the first in Hurme’s young career. The last Hatter to be named A-Sun Player of the Week was Alexis Hermosa in August of 2011.
Hurme scored two goals while playing in the back as Stetson went undefeated in two games this weekend. The sophomore scored the game-tying goal with just minutes remaining in a 3-3 draw against Lipscomb, and also tied the match at Northern Kentucky before the Hatters went on to win 2-1 on Sunday.
The Wellington, Fla. native is now second on the team with five points. She has two goals and one assist on the season.
After a 1-0-1 weekend, Stetson stands in third place in the A-Sun with a 2-1-1 league mark. The Hatters will return home this weekend to play host to USC Upstate on Friday and ETSU on Sunday.
