The Stetson athletics department is pleased to announce the hiring
of Erica Schmidt as Compliance Coordinator, and Dan Forcella as Assistant
Director of Athletic Communications.
Schmidt, formerly a graduate assistant in compliance at the University of West Florida, was named the Compliance
Coordinator for Stetson Athletics beginning this summer. Before receiving her Master of Education at
UWF, Schmidt worked in the compliance office and was a member of the track and
field team at Robert
Morris University. Graduating with a Bachelor of Science from
the university in 2010, Schmidt was also a Northeast Conference Champion as a
pole-vaulter for the Colonials.
Forcella was named Assistant Director of Athletic
Communications beginning in July. He comes
to Stetson after a two year stint as a graduate assistant for media relations
at Belmont University. Forcella earned a Master of Sport
Administration from Belmont in May of 2012, and
a Bachelor of Arts from Vassar
College in 2008. Before making his way to Belmont,
Forcella worked as an Assistant Sports Information Director at Central Connecticut State
University for two years,
and spent time in the Sports Information office at Vassar, where he was a
member of the men's basketball team.
Schmidt will be working closely with Assistant AD for
Compliance Jorie Tress, administering a comprehensive NCAA Division I and
Atlantic Sun Conference rules compliance program. Forcella, working with Assistant AD for
Athletic Communications Ricky Hazel, will be the media contact for men's
basketball, men's and women's soccer, and baseball this season.
