Victoria McGowan scored 23 points and Shanasa Sanders added 18, but Stetson fell 73-68 to host Northern Kentucky in an Atlantic Sun Conference game Saturday evening at the Bank of Kentucky Center.
The Hatters (18-7, 11-3 A-Sun) had their three-game win streak halted while the Norse (11-11, 8-5) won for the fourth time in a row.
McGowan hit a step-back three-pointer with 37 seconds remaining to put the Hatters ahead by one, but Kayla Thacker answered 16 seconds later with a three of her own and the Norse hit three free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.
Trailing by six early in the second half, the Hatters went on an 8-0 run to grab their first lead of the game 43-41 with 15:38 remaining. The lead changed hands five more times the remainder of the game, although Stetson led by as many as seven with six minutes left.
For the game, Stetson shot 46 percent from the floor and hit nine three-pointers, including four triples by McGowan and two by Sanders. Cherisse Burris added nine points, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Northern Kentucky shot 48 percent and outrebounded Stetson 39-26.
The Hatters will be back in action Monday night at Lipscomb in game televised by ESPN3. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Allen Arena in Nashville.
Notes: Shanasa Sanders played all 40 minutes ... McGowan scored in double figures for the 10th straight game and Sanders topped 15 points for the sixth time in a row.
