Buies Creek, N.C. - The Stetson women's basketball team (9-10, 5-5 Atlantic Sun) scored 80 points in a road game for the first time in nine years, but host Campbell's hot shooting was simply too much for the Hatters as the Lady Camels (8-10, 7-2 A-Sun) picked up a 93-80 victory at the Pope Convocation Center.  Sophomore guard Victoria McGowan (Inkster, Mich.) tallied her second double-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists to lead five Hatters in double figures.

Campbell shot 62.3 percent (38-61) from the floor in the game, including nearly 65 percent in the second half (22-34).  The Lady Camels made eight of 14 three-point attempts (.571) and shot 90 percent from the free throw line (9-10).  For its part, Stetson surpassed its season averages with 43.8 percent field goal shooting (28-64) and 36.8 percent three-point shooting (7-19), but ultimately could not keep up with the home team, which extended its overall winning streak to seven games and its home win streak against the Hatters to 14 games and 15 years.  Stetson had won three in a row coming into today.

The two teams traded baskets for much of the first half; Stetson held several brief two- and three-point leads but Campbell would use a 7-1 run in the final 1:45 of the first half to take a 38-33 bulge into intermission that it would not relinquish.  Excellent ball movement by the Lady Camels resulted in assists on their first nine field goals of the second half as they pushed their advantage to 13 points.  The Hatters would not be able to come closer than eight at any time in the second half.

In addition to McGowan, seniors Tierra Brown (Orlando, Fla.), Jessica Conner (Cocoa, Fla.) and Natasha Graboski (Upper Sandusky, Ohio) plus sophomore guard/forward Simone Taylor (Delray Beach, Fla.) scored in double digits.  Brown scored 16 points, Conner and Graboski had 13 points each and Taylor added 10 for Stetson, which last scored 80 points on the road January 24, 2002 in an 87-81 win at Belmont.  The Hatters defeated Georgia State 88-62 in the 2005 A-Sun tournament championship game on a neutral floor in Dothan, Ala.  Graboski had six rebounds and Taylor four assists.

Six Campbell players scored in double figures to become the first Stetson A-Sun opponent to score 90 points since Florida Atlantic beat the Hatters 91-79 in Boca Raton, Fla. on March 8, 2003.  Jacksonville State's 101 points on Feb. 11, 2002 was the last higher figure than today's 93.  Tonisha Baker scored 16 points to lead the Lady Camels, who got 14 points apiece from Jazmine Cooper, Monique Spry and Lauren Yesh, a 13-point, 12-assist double-double from point guard Kate Cloxton and 12 points from Courtney Cannon.  Cloxton and Spry combined to make seven of eight three-pointers.

Stetson returns to action Saturday, January 29 in Nashville, Tenn. at Belmont.  Links to Live Stats and Hatter Vision simulcast of Belmont's ASun.TV broadcast will be available at GoHatters.com.
