Hatters Rise to 18th in Women's Mid-Major Poll

DeLand, Fla. - After winning three games since the last edition of the rankings, the Stetson women's basketball team (15-3, 6-0 Atlantic Sun) rose seven spots from 25th to 18th in this week's Mid-Major Poll. The Hatters are one of two Atlantic Sun Conference teams ranked and the highest riser in the January 10 edition.

With 15 victories on the season heading into Thursday night's A-Sun matchup at Lipscomb (7:30 pm ET, 6:30 pm local CT), Stetson is tied for third in the nation in wins behind only #2 Notre Dame and #5 Maryland. Since cracking the mid-major rankings at 25th last week, the Hatters defeated Mercer 89-84 in Macon, Ga. on Jan. 4, then came home to knock off Jacksonville 93-86 in double overtime on Saturday, Jan. 7 and beat North Florida 63-55 on Monday, Jan. 9.

A-Sun co-leader FGCU (14-2, 6-0 A-Sun) is ranked fourth among mid-majors; the #1 team in the poll is 13-0 Green Bay, ranked 12th and 14th nationally by the WBCA Coaches Poll and Associated Press Poll respectively. The second and third teams in the mid-major poll, Delaware (#18/20) and Gonzaga (#22/23) are also included in both major Top 25 rankings.

After taking on the Lady Bison tomorrow evening, the Hatters remain in Nashville to battle Belmont at 6:00 pm ET (5:00 pm local CT) Saturday. Live Stats links will be available at; fans can watch the games through ASun.TV, simulcasted with Hatter Vision for subscribers.
