Stetson University women's basketball senior guard Shanasa Sanders (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been named the College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the Atlantic Sun Conference, the publication announced on Monday.
Sanders averaged 17.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.0 steals in two Hatter victories this past week. On Monday, Sanders registered a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in Stetson’s 72-51 win over Jacksonville. She scored her 1000th career NCAA point in the contest, while adding three steals, two assists, and one block.
Against ETSU on Saturday, the Hatter senior scored 17 points and added six rebounds, three assists, and three steals as Stetson won its 15th straight at home, 74-65 over the Lady Bucs.
Sanders is averaging 18.5 points and 8.5 rebounds over her last four games.
Stetson (17-6, 10-2 A-Sun) hosts USC Upstate at 7 p.m. tonight in the annual Play4Kay contest. Fans are encouraged to wear pink as the women's basketball teams helps raise awreness for the fight against breast cancer.
