On the heels of a career-high 28-point performance in Stetson's win Saturday over Kennesaw State, freshman Amber Porter was selected as the Atlantic Sun Newcomer of the Week on Monday. It marks the third time this season Porter has earned the league's Newcomer of the Week award.
Porter was 11-for-19 from the floor vs. Kennesaw State and recorded 11 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. She also contributed three blocks to bring her season total to 58.
On Thursday, Porter scored 15 points in the Hatters win at Mercer, knocking down 7-of-11 shots from the field. She posted a .600 (18-for-30) field goal pct. for the week and averaged 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
Porter was also selected as the College Sports Madness A-Sun Player of the Week on Monday.
For the season, the Woodbridge, Va. native is averaging 13.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.4 blocks per game for the Hatters, who have won four straight. Stetson (12-5, 4-1 A-Sun) will return home to face UNF at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
